Born in Busan, Cam was adopted at age four and grew up living in Washington State alongside a KAD (non-bio) sister. With extended family spread across both Washington and the Midwest, he found solace in the forests of the Pacific Northwest and lakes of Minnesota.

Cam grew up with various connections to Korean culture including cultural camps, language lessons, and friendships with both Korean nationals and second generation Korean Americans. Today, he explores how his personal identity as an Asian American has been shaped by his adoptee experience. On his search for identity, Cam found himself relocating to Los Angeles in 2015. He has since hiked across more than 1000 miles of trails across northern, central, and southern California alone.

Like many other adoptees, Cam continues to work towards understanding his unique KAD journey. When asked his thoughts on AKA-LA, Cam responded saying, “as a self-described misanthropic loner, AKA-LA has been a family I didn’t know I needed. What continually inspires me is AKA-LA’s practice of support and inclusion which opens pathways for Korean adoptees to find connection and belonging."
